1. Acceptance of Terms
You must read and agree to these Terms before registering. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time; the “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
2. Eligibility
To use The Garden, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You are legally able to enter into a binding agreement.
- You are seeking connections consistent with a marriage-minded, faith-centered community (as you understand and intend it).
- You will maintain only one personal account.
- You are not prohibited by law from using online dating or social services.
We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that do not meet these requirements.
3. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide and for keeping your password confidential. Notify us promptly at thegarden@meetinthegarden.net if you suspect unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account.
4. Membership, Plans, and Billing
The Garden may offer free and paid membership tiers. Free accounts may include limited features (such as creating a profile and browsing). Paid membership may unlock features such as messaging and advanced filters. Plan names, prices, and availability (including limited launch offers) are shown at registration or upgrade and may change.
Paid subscriptions and one-time memberships are processed by Stripe. We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase. You authorize us (through Stripe) to charge the payment method you provide for the selected plan.
5. Community Standards
The Garden is a scripture-centered Christian dating and social community. Members are expected to treat one another with respect, honesty, and dignity. Without limitation, you agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, stalk, defame, or exploit other members.
- Post sexual, pornographic, or excessively graphic content.
- Promote hate, violence, or discrimination.
- Scam, solicit money, or run commercial schemes through the Service.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity, age, or marital status.
- Share another person’s private information without consent.
- Use the Service for unlawful activity.
6. Profiles, Media, Messaging, and Likes
You may create a profile, upload photos or videos, browse other members, like profiles, and (with paid access where applicable) send messages. Content you share must be yours to share, lawful, and appropriate for this community. We may remove content or restrict features that violate these Terms or harm the community.
7. Prohibited Conduct and Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and take action we deem appropriate, including warning you, removing content, limiting features, suspending or terminating your account, and cooperating with law enforcement when required. We are not obligated to monitor all activity but reserve the right to do so for safety and integrity.
8. Your Content and License
You retain ownership of content you submit (such as profile text, photos, and videos). By submitting content, you grant The Garden a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and transmit that content as needed to operate and improve the Service. You represent that you have all rights needed to grant this license. You may delete content or your account subject to our retention practices described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers
The Garden is a platform to help members connect; we do not guarantee matches, relationships, marriage, or any particular outcome. We do not provide pastoral, counseling, legal, or medical advice. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. You use the Service at your own risk and should exercise ordinary caution when meeting anyone offline.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Garden and its operators, officers, and agents will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or (b) fifty U.S. dollars ($50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Termination and Account Deletion
You may stop using the Service and request account deletion through available account tools or by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, liability limits, and license grants for content already processed) will survive termination.
12. Changes to the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. We will try to communicate material changes when reasonable, but are not liable for modifications that affect your use of the Service.
